VASBA is the voice of all aspects of the aerospace industry in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Representing numerous companies, nonprofits, and individuals representing many facets of the market segment, VASBA is the state's advocate for the aerospace industry before federal, state and local policy-makers.

VASBA Committees
Consistent with VASBA’s overall goal of being the voice of all aspects of the aerospace industry in the Commonwealth of Virginia, committee structure with the following responsibilities has been established:
Program Planning Committee
Chair: Kinsey Couch (Programs & Events)
- Develops annual calendar of VASBA events, educational programs, and special initiatives.
- Designs program themes, formats, and content to support member needs and strategic priorities.
- Identifies and secures speakers, panelists, facilitators, and partner organizations.
- Manages event logistics, including scheduling, venue coordination, and technical requirements.
- Ensures programs are high-quality, mission-aligned, and accessible to members.
- Reviews event feedback and participation data to improve future programming.
Member Engagement Committee
Chair: Marilé Colón Robles (Marketing, Membership, Advocacy & Economic Development)
- Strengthens relationships with current members through regular touchpoints, feedback collection, and personalized engagement.
- Promotes VASBA and its members via website, social media, pamphlets, and email blasts.
- Monitors member satisfaction and retention metrics to guide improvements in services and programming.
- Coordinates membership participation in volunteer opportunities, committees, initiatives, and special projects.
- Oversees onboarding for new members including review of VASBA’s mission, benefits, and involvement opportunities.
- Maintains public awareness and communicates the importance of the economic benefits of aerospace in the Commonwealth.
- Serves as a resource and link to local, regional, and state economic development entities.
- Supports advocacy for aerospace interests and initiatives at all levels.
- Develops strategic alliances and partnerships with key stakeholders.
Educational Outreach and Workforce Development
Chair: Jack Schlank (Educational Outreach, STEM Scholarships, Sponsorships, and Workforce Development)
- Leads VASBA’s efforts to strengthen the regional aerospace talent pipeline through K–12, collegiate, and adult-learner engagement.
- Builds partnerships with schools, training providers, and industry to expand awareness of aerospace career pathways.
- Identifies higher education institutions with aerospace and engineering programs to offer full-time students academic scholarships.
- Identifies high-quality, pre-college STEM programs associated with public schools and non-profit organizations to offer sponsorships to support outreach missions, goals, generate knowledge, and spread excitement about aerospace in Virginia.
- Monitors regional workforce trends to guide VASBA’s programs and priorities by identifying emerging technical and engineering talent gaps.
- Helps connect job seekers with VASBA member companies through digital communications and info sessions.
