Representing numerous companies, nonprofits, and individuals representing many facets of the market segment, VASBA is the state's advocate for the aerospace industry before federal, state and local policy-makers.​

​VASBA Committees

Consistent with VASBA’s overall goal of being the voice of all aspects of the aerospace industry in the Commonwealth of Virginia, committee structure with the following responsibilities has been established:

​Strategic Committees:

​Advocacy & Economic Development

​Workforce Development

  • Maintaining awareness and communicating the importance of the economic benefits of aerospace in the Commonwealth
  • Serve as a resource and link to local, regional and state economic development entities
  • Supporting advocacy for aerospace interests and initiatives at all levels
  • Developing strategic alliances and partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Continually monitor workforce development needs and strive to provide information on potential resources to address those needs
  • Connecting members to state and local resources, professional development opportunities, and talent pipelines to build, sustain, & evolve a viable aerospace workforce in the Commonwealth

Operations & Administrative Committees:

​Marketing and Membership Committee

Educational Outreach Committee

  • Raising overall awareness and promoting VASBA events and activities with timely, frequent and robust communications using social media, direct electronic mailings and attendance at related events
  • Growing the VASBA membership network across all segments of aerospace (civil, defense, commercial) with industry and universities, and government (all levels) and other professional/technical organizations
  • Identifying higher education institutions, including community colleges and universities, with aerospace and engineering programs to offer scholarships to full-time students meeting specified criteria to help build a strong, future workforce in the Commonwealth
  • Supporting technicians and engineers that are going to be needed to keep Virginia viable in the future aerospace arena
  • Identifying  high-quality, pre-college STEM programs associated with public schools and non-profit organizations to offer sponsorships to help foster their outreach missions and goals and generate knowledge and excitement about the aerospace sector in Virginia

​Program Committee

 

  • Planning and supporting VASBA programs and events including speaker luncheons, member mixers, and the annual fundraising gala.
